Design Process

Initial Meeting and Contract

The process begins when a member of our staff meets with you, preferably on site, to discuss your objectives. We will welcome your ideas, thoughts, feelings and concerns. We will become familiar with your property, your personal objectives, budgetary outlook, and begin to formulate a design program. We will outline the sequence of tasks and discuss expectations for time of completion.

Contract

After our initial meeting, should both parties wish to proceed, a written agreement defining the terms of our working relationship will be drawn.

Site Inventory and Analysis

A base plan showing existing conditions will be provided using information supplied by the client, survey information, architectural plans and on-site inventory done by our office. We evaluate site elements, architectural elements and landscape features. On-site views, off-site views, noise, sun, wind and drainage are studied.

Concept Development

We analyze existing conditions and how they will affect the desired goals. Usually more than one concept plan is produced for discussion purposes, looking at pros and cons of each concept. Through discussion with our client, a design emerges that best suits the client’s needs with site & budget restraints.

Final Design and Working Drawings

With approval of the design and budget at the conceptual stage, a master plan is developed. It includes grading, planting, lighting and design/construction details. These plans are suitable for the bidding process, whether our client wants a turnkey project or wishes to bid the project out to more than one contractor. Together with the client, decisions are made regarding contractor selection schedules and final budgets.

Implementation

Should our client wish a turnkey service, Beaufort Planning Group will provide this service with professional, seasoned crews. If our client desires BPG to provide a supervisory role in the construction phase, it will be done so with utmost concern for our client’s interests. Modifications to the design are often made in the field by the project manager as site conditions warrant. We maintain a good working relationship with the various trade’s people and make sure that every detail is properly implemented.

We always strive to ensure that the project is completed in a timely and professional manner.
